What we do?
At HOOGA Seed Keepers Collective, we ensure the connection between peoples and actions taken towards resilient seeds and food systems. Our goal is to bridge knowledge gaps, expertise, perspective and goodwill towards actionable transformative solutions for sustainable seeds to food systems contributing to regenerative agriculture.
To bring the seed saving mechanism back in the hands of farmers, gardeners and revive and save native heirloom indigenous traditional seeds which are endangered and find those that are on the verge of extinction with a specific focus on climate resilience.
Our Seeds
Seed is the reason behind the core existence of every human being. Food and seeds cannot be separated. It is always a loop of food from seeds and we get seeds from our food. Seeds pave a way to connect all of us – regardless of gender, age, cultural identities, economic and social statuses – we all need food for our survival. Seeds produce food and the good seed is paramount for good food. Sustainable food brings all of us together – shapes our social bonding with communities, families and friends. At HOOGA, we are working as a collective celebrating the energy, power and joy of wellness that native seeds brings to us – growing, multiplying, saving and sharing seeds, making native seeds accessible to all.

How do we Work?
HOOGA team does Seed Yatra once in every three months to forage the extinct, document local knowledge on indigenous sustainable food production and seed saving mechanisms. We identify and work with home gardeners, interested individuals, Women SHGs and farmers across places who are dedicated to Seed Sovereignty, Regenerative Agriculture and Indigenous food production. HOOGA works to collect rare seeds and multiply them with the dedicated support from our associated seed keepers. For every packet of seed from HOOGA, you support our seed keepers’ alternate livelihood for the work done and the whole of HOOGA team, towards working to conserve native seed varieties.
