The traditional 40 years old Jaffna Moringa has been grown in Thangachimadam areas and the cutting was brought from Jaffna, Sri lanka during the cargo service between India and Sri lanka. It comes very well in coastal sandy soils. A 40 years old tree gives 1500 moringa sticks daily between March –June. It is not usually affected by pests and diseases. The rainy season of October, November and December is the off-season for moringa tree.
