Seed Yatra
Travel along to see what’s missing - SEEDS OF FUTURE
Seed Yatra - First of its kind experience to add to your list of destinations
Meet new people, engage with nature, go local and native….
As we started this journey of HOOGA in order to forage the extinct, we reached out to elderly people in the remotest parts of the country to learn, engage and recreate what is missing in our food plate. After two years of this journey, HOOGA was born out of the understanding of criticality and high importance of our native heirloom seeds which not grown at scale will no longer be available. With wonderful power, resistance, adaptation and nutritional value, this journey taught us what is more important for food security and to combat climate change.
With gradual realisations and to add more value by joining with more people, HOOGA started doing SEED YATRA to culturally important places across India where we found vegetables which can grow like a tree, yielding so high – one plant is enough to feed a family, numerous varieties of brinjals, gourd and peppers which made us critically ponder over what’s been missing in our plates.
We strongly believe that our seed yatra will connect the dots of all the unknown work which has a huge potential and need to be highlighted. With many people working across India, HOOGA tries to bring in a collective effort to work with every seed person to revive our lost agro biodiversity.
Our Journey map
We conduct seed yatra to a new village and farm once every three months. We meet people, document the local knowledge and create space for exchange of knowledge and experience native local food and farm diversity.
Our Upcoming Seed Yatra
We will update here once the program is planned
